Soon, F-gases and flammable refrigerants will all fall under the A1 certificate. Starting in 2029, you are only allowed to work with these refrigerants if you have this new certificate. The F-gases A1 training at Studium fully prepares you for this combined certificate. You will learn to work on systems with F-gases and flammable alternatives like propane and isobutane. Safe, practical, and fully tailored to the official A1 exam.
Afterwards, you are qualified to work independently on all cooling systems, no matter the type or amount of refrigerant. And this is valid for the next seven years.
Flammable refrigerants require more than just technical skills. They require discipline. Propane and isobutane are efficient, but also extremely flammable. Not just during installation, but also during use.
That is why, at Studium, you learn to work under real conditions. With actual flammable refrigerants, in a practice room that meets all safety standards. This way, you become familiar not only with the technology, but most importantly, with how to work safely. Because you can only truly install safely when you understand the risks.
The F-gases A1 training is a practice-oriented course. The balance between practice and theory is 50/50. This way, you know exactly how to apply everything in your daily work.
In this training, you will learn to work safely and professionally with different refrigerants, both synthetic and flammable. You will work on realistic installations, perform measurements and inspections, learn to braze under nitrogen, and adjust components.
You will practice with real situations: from TRAs (Task Risk Analyses) and ATEX zoning to safely burning off (flaring) flammable refrigerants. Theory and practice come together, so you can confidently take the A1 exam.
Topics include:
The cooling circuit, physical principles & system structure
Working with F-gases: filling, vacuuming, finding leaks, and logbooks
Working safely with propane, isobutane, and other flammable refrigerants
ATEX, EX-zones, and the relevant safety rules (NPR 7600, EVD, LMRA)
Brazing and making flare connections according to the standards
Inspection, diagnosis, and adjustment of cooling systems
You will learn exactly what you need to start working independently and safely, in the real world and according to the law.
The A1 certificate is valid for 7 years. After that, you are required to recertify to keep your license.
This training is relevant for anyone who works (or will be working) on systems with refrigerants, such as:
